Maria Helena Celebrant
Every ceremony begins with your story. I take the time to truly get to know you, so that when the moment arrives, every word spoken feels like it could only ever have been written for you.
Your ceremony, your way.
Some moments in life stop time. A hand held at the altar, a name spoken aloud for the very first time, a final farewell that says everything words almost cannot. These are the moments that shape us, that we carry long after the day has passed.
I am here to honour them. Working closely with you from the very first conversation, I take the time to truly understand who you are, what matters most to you, and how you want the people in the room to feel. Every ceremony I lead is crafted from scratch, guided by warmth, and made to feel like no one else's.
Hi, I am Maria Helena.
For years, I ran my own gift shop in the heart of Athboy, County Meath. Every day I watched people come through the door looking for something to mark a moment. A wedding. A new baby. A birthday. A loss. What struck me every single time was not the gift itself, but the emotion behind it. People were not just buying something. They were trying to say something that words alone did not feel big enough to hold.
That realisation stayed with me. Two years ago, I decided to do something about it. I trained as a celebrant because I wanted to be there for the moments themselves, not just the gifts that surround them. To stand beside people on the days that would stay with them forever and help mark those days in a way that felt truly, completely theirs.
Since then I have had the privilege of leading weddings, baby namings, vow renewals, and funeral services across Meath and beyond. Every single one has reminded me why I started.

Your love story is unlike anyone else's and your ceremony should reflect that. I work closely with every couple from the very first conversation, taking the time to truly understand who you are, how you met, what makes you laugh, and what you want the people in the room to feel.
Every wedding ceremony is written entirely from scratch. No templates, no borrowed scripts, nothing generic. Just something personal, warm, and made completely around you. I will guide you through every detail, from the structure and readings to rituals and vows, and will be with you every step of the way until the moment I stand beside you on the day.
Ceremonies can take place anywhere. A licensed venue, your family home, a garden, a beach. If it means something to you, I will be there.
-
A baby naming is one of the most joyful ceremonies there is. It is a chance to gather the people who love your child most, welcome them into the world properly, and mark the beginning of their story in a way that feels truly special.
I create intimate, personal naming ceremonies that celebrate not just the new arrival but the whole family around them. I will work with you to choose meaningful readings, introduce any godparents or guardians, and create a ceremony that feels warm, joyful, and entirely yours.
-
Some couples want to stand together again and say it all over again, with even more meaning than the first time. Whether you are marking a milestone anniversary, celebrating after a difficult chapter, or simply wanting to reaffirm your commitment in front of the people you love, a vow renewal is a beautiful and deeply personal way to do it.
I will help you shape a ceremony that honours your journey together, where you have been, what you have built, and where you are headed. Intimate or celebratory, simple or elaborate, it is entirely up to you.
-
Losing someone is one of the hardest things we ever face. I approach every funeral service with the utmost gentleness, dignity, and care, taking the time to truly get to know the person being remembered through the stories and memories of the people who loved them most.
Every service is shaped entirely around the family's wishes. There are no rules, no set formats, and no expectations. Just a ceremony that honours a life lived, holds space for grief, and gives everyone in the room the chance to say goodbye in a way that feels right.
I am here to take the weight of this from you, so that on the day, you can simply be present.

Every ceremony begins with a conversation. I would love to hear your story, whatever the occasion, wherever you are in the journey.

A celebrant is someone who creates and leads personalised ceremonies for life's most important moments. Unlike a priest or a registrar, a celebrant works entirely around you, your story, your wishes, and what you want the people in the room to feel.
-
At present, an independent celebrant cannot perform a legally binding ceremony in Ireland. Most couples visit their local register office for a short civil ceremony before or after their celebrant ceremony. Many choose to do this quietly in the days beforehand, so that the ceremony on the day feels completely theirs.

It always begins with a conversation. We will take the time to get to know you, understand what you are looking for, and talk through how she can help. From there she crafts your ceremony entirely from scratch, sharing drafts with you along the way until every word feels exactly right.

Every ceremony is different. Weddings typically run between twenty and forty minutes. Baby namings and vow renewals are usually a little shorter. Funeral services are shaped entirely around the family's wishes.
